Already in 1998 Richard Barrett wrote the book: Liberating the Corporate Soul, in which he describes a company/organisation as a living entity with physical (PQ), emotional (EQ), mental (IQ) and spiritual (SQ) needs:
“The physical well-being of an organisation depends on the financial state. The emotional well-being on how the organisation feels about itself and the quality of her relations.
The mental well-being is directly related to the openness of an organisation to internal and external feedback. Continuous learning is of vital interest in this competitive world.
The spiritual well-being of an organisation depends on the nature of internal and external connections, the extent to which your work contributes or serves humanity and our planet and is related to open discussions and dialogues about values and behaviour.”
In order to liberate the soul of an organisation, a critical part of the human souls working there need to be liberated (in other words be conscious human beings) as well as the soul of the organisation itself. We know from organisational constellations, that a system as a whole has a ‘will’ on its own. We all know that the whole acts different than the sum of the parts, such as for example a team or a class together is acting differently than the individual members one by one.
As leaders in this century, we have to understand as well the individual as the organisational system mechanisms in order to free the soul of an organisation for sustainable success. Do you want to use the full potential of yourself and y our organisation?
I could also call my current profession: Obstetrics of the Soul of People and Organisations. I facilitate transformation of patterns on all levels (IQ, EQ, FQ and SQ of individuals, teams and organisations), that prevent the use of the full soul potential of people and organisations.
Liberation takes 3 steps:
- Becoming Aware
- Accepting reality as it is
- Transforming
